Plans were announced today by the North American Jewish Youth Council for observance from March 15 to April 15 of “Jewish Youth Month” to call attention to the contributions and significance of Jewish youth organizations in the United States and Canada, Sheldon Gampel and Andrea Leiter, co-chairmen of the council, met with Arthur J. Goldberg, United States Ambassador to the United Nations, at the UN, for a brief ceremony at which the purposes of the council and the month-long observance were outlined.
The 24 national Jewish youth organizations comprising the council will hold cultural programs, seminars, youth Sabbaths, folk dance programs and other events highlighting the role of Jewish youth and to bring more Jewish youth into Jewish communal services.
