The American plan to set up a new organization succeeding the International Refugee Organization with a view to re-settle 115,000 European refugees–including about 15.000 Jewish refugees–over seas during 1952 is gaining support at the 23-nation conference here.
The American proposal provides for a $35,000,000 budget to which the United States would contribute $10,000,000. The new organization would maintain the I.R.O. fleet of 12 transport vessels and would cover the cost of transportation of the refugees. If no successor organization is set up for the I.R.O, the transportation of the refugees would be a charge on voluntary organizations.
