An Auschwitz survivor was named deputy prime minister for European integration in the new Czech Cabinet. Egon Lansky, a former diplomat and journalist, is one of incoming Prime Minister Milos Zeman’s closest confidants. Lansky will assume his new duties Wednesday, when Czech President Vaclav Havel formally approves the Cabinet.
