An Israeli legislator proposed that any national referendum on further territorial concessions to the Palestinians require a 60 percent majority in order to prevent Israeli Arabs from casting the deciding votes. An Arab member of Knesset, Talab El-Sana, characterized the proposal put forward by Hanan Porat of the National Unity Party as racist. Porat is trying to mobilize opposition to any Israeli withdrawal from the Golan.
