The Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter called today for the elimination of anti-Semitic references in Swedish school textbooks. In an editorial on the subject, the paper calls attention to a charge by the noted Yiddish writer Ingemar Lundborg that such references had been introduced inadvertently into we dish school books.
Mr. Lundborg had cited the example of the assertion in one school textbook that Jesus died at the hands of the “Jewish people.” Another example he cited was the assertion that the “Jews killed Christ and refused to accept him ever since.” Mr. Lundborg, the editorial noted, had written to the Archbishop of Sweden about the matter, but nothing had been done about it.
