An archaeological conference devoted to recent discoveries in the Negev opened at Beersheba with President Ben Zvi of Israel and the president and rector of the Hebrew University present. Some 400 scholars, including 60 from abroad, are attending the gathering.
Among the experts and specialists who reported on their recent work was Prof. William Albright, the noted explorer, who lectured on his findings on the movement of the Jews from Egypt to Palestine during the Exodus. Premier David Ben Gurion last night addressed the parley on Jewish associations with the city of Beersheba and expressed the hope that the archaeologists would succeed in establishing “the line between the past and the present.”
