Archbishop Hugo of Mainz has issued an official prohibition to all Catholics in his diocese against joining the Hitlerites. He has also prohibited members of the National Socialists who are of the Catholic faith from taking part in funerals or other church rituals and has ordered all registered members of Hitler’s party who are Catholics to be barred from confession and sacraments. These prohibitions are due to the fact that Hitler’s pronouncements are incompatible with Catholic teachings.
