From 40 to 50 percent of the 5,000,000 Jews in the U.S. will be lost through assimilation and intermarriage in 25 years, Rabbi William P. Greenfeld of the Indianapolis’ Conservative Temple Beth El, predicted in his sermon last Friday night.
He said the remainder would develop a high Jewish culture approaching that of Spain’s Golden Age. Rabbi Greenfeld added that the rebirth of Israel made it possible for Jews to leave Judaism without feeling like deserters.
