David Ben-Gurion, of the political department of the executive of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, gave a three-hour review of the situation in Palestine at a press conference yesterday.
Ben-Gurion, who declared that the Jewish Agency was fighting the deportation of those immigrants who entered Palestine illegally, pointed out that the tourists had made up for the shortage of labor in Palestine and constituted a striking proof that the country could absorb them.
The political department chief referred to Arab-Jewish relations declaring that both races had a historic right in Palestine. He denied that the Jews desired supremacy in Palestine, but only the opportunity of building up a home in Palestine. Ben-Gurion also dwelt on the necessity for the compulsory hiring of Jewish labor on Jewish enterprises. Moshe Shertok, also of the political department, answered the questions propounded by the journalists.
