Former Israeli Premier David Ben-Gurion told the press yesterday he was satisfied with Golda Meir as head of the Israeli Government. He also expressed hope his satisfaction will continue. Asked whether NATO needs Israel as a base, Mr. Ben-Gurion said that the questioner was not familiar with the Bible or Jewish thinking. Jews, he said, did not sacrifice themselves for the interests of other nations but only for their own survival in their own independent state. Mr. Ben-Gurion’s appeal for youth alive was greeted with cheers.
