An appeal to the Jewish people throughout the world to have confidence in the new generation’s efforts to create a new Germany was made by Senator Joachim Lipschitz of the City of Berlin at a luncheon given in his honor here by the World Jewish Congress.
“It is humanly impossible” to compensate for all the losses Jewry had suffered in the period 1933-45, but it was the only way Germany could do anything to atone, Sen. Lipschitz said. “No one should say ‘thanks,'” the Senator added, “it is our obligation. We have to be thankful that the other side accepted what we offered.”
