A motion to prohibit schechita in Berlin was voted down today by the municipal council’s budget commission. The motion which was introduced by the National Socialists was supported by the People’s Party while the Democratic Centrists, the Socialists and the Communists voted against it.

In Thuringia the National Socialists are again moving for the anti-Schechita bill in the parliament. The Hitlerite Deputy, G. Sauckel, declared “we are not interested in the protection of animals but we hope that anti-Semitism will keep Jewish visitors away from the summer resorts in Thuringia”.

Yesterday the Bavarian government announced that the anti-Schechita law would go into effect October 1.
