The long awaited attack against the German B’nai B’rith, members of the international Jewish fraternal organization, began today with the arrest of Benno Walter, vice president of the German B’nai B’rith lodges. Ostensibly he was arrested because of a speech he made in Gladsbach on January 8. actually he was arrested because he is the leader of the B’nai B’rith groups in Germany.
At the same time B’nai B’rith lodges in Nuremburg, Koenigsberg, Elbing, Allenstein, Kottbuss and Aschaffenburg were raided by police and the contents of the premises confiscated. Only Herr Walter was arrested so far.
Recently the B’nai B’rith lodge in Stettin was raided and the lodge dissolved. The building was turned over to the municipality. No reason was assigned for the action at the time.
