The British Communist Party favors ending the mandate over Palestine and the creation of an independent state on a basis of equal rights for Jews and Arabs, Jack Gaster, a leader of the party, said today, addressing its national convention here. The English Communists, however, do not accept the position that Jews should be forced into Palestine, supported by British bayonets, against the will of the Arabs, he added.
The convention adopted a resolution welcoming the steps taken by democratic governments in eastern Europs to assist the resettlement and rebuilding of Jewish communities and to outlaw anti-Semitism. The resolution also expressed concern at the failure to relieve the sufferings of the displaced Jews in Europe, and demanded that special relief teams be established to aid the Jewish D.P.’s.
