The attitude of the British delegate on the United Nations Human Rights Commission on the question of the religious education of war orphans was criticized here today at a meeting of the Anglo-Jewish Association.
Rowland Landman, chairman of the A.J.A. foreign affairs committee, took the British delegate to task for the suggestion that Jews wanted to take Jewish war orphans away from foster parents who saved them at the risk of their own lives on the “pretext that they should be raised in the Jewish faith.” Mr. Landman insisted that it was as wrong to suggest that the “natural desire” to have the children reared in the faith of their martyred parents was a “pretext” as it would be to say that the rescuers had saved the children in order to have them converted to another faith.
