The Daily Express publishes an editorial today stating that it will not carry any further reports of false telephone alarms that government buildings are to be bombed, because it does not wish “to encourage Jew-baiters, who are seeking to besmirch Jewry and cause public resentment by spreading rumors about the so called activities of the Stern Group.”
It adds that it also does not wish to encourage “misguided Zionists seeking further political ends in Palestine by threats of violence.” “There is no place in this paper for rumors spread for the purpose of causing public mischief,” the editorial concludes.
