Rabbi Franz Hevesi, son of the former Chief Rabbi, today was awarded the highest sports medal of honor —a large silver shield.
Rabbi Hevesi won the award because he preached sportsmanship.
The silver shield is given to the person most useful in the promotion of sports. The rabbi has long advocated in his sermons the building of a sane mind in a sound body.
