H. M. Caiserman, general secretary of the Canadian Jewish Congress/will leave in a few days for Poland to investigate the position of the Jewish community there, it was announced/by Samuel Branfman, Congress national president, speaking here at the/first post-war meeting of the national dominion council of the Congress.
Mr. Bronfman charged that “the rehabilitation of Jewish communities and the reconstruction of the lives of thousands of Jews is still maddeningly slow.” He expressed disappointment at the failure of UNRRA and the various national governments to act, and said that the “fact remains that private initiative, private enterprise, and our own resources will have to be used where international concern ought to be the answer.”
Saul Hayes, national executive director of the Congress, revealed that all the clothing collected by it for overseas relief had been shipped, mostly through channels provided by the Joint Distribution Committee.
