Michael Starr, Minister of Labor and first immigrant to hold a post in the current Canadian Cabinet, kicked off a government campaign against racial and religious discrimination in employment.
Speaking on a radio broadcast carried by 80 stations across Canada, Mr. Starr attacked the concept that a man’s religion or his race were responsible for inferiority. He noted that FEPC laws had been enacted in the provinces of Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. The broadcast was one of a series sponsored by the Ministry of Labor.
