The proposed establishment of a seminary for cantors with courses in traditional Jewish music, theory and Harmony, Jewish history, Hebrew grammar, Bible, Talmud and English grammar and literature was announced yesterday by Reverend Pincus Minkowsky, President of the Jewish Ministers Cantors’ Association.
Cantor Minkowsky who is chairman of the committee in charge of this project, came to this country about six months ago, after serving almost fifty years in the Great Synagogue in Moscow/.
Rev. Minkowsky, who is 67 years old, will be the soloist at the concert to be given at Madison Square Garden by the Cantors’ Association on February 3rd to raise funds for the new seminary.
