The Catholic University of America, located in Washington, has conferred a degree on a rabbi, the first such degree in the history of the institution.
Rabbi Samuel H. Berkowitz, director of the B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation at the George Washington University, has been awarded the degree of Master of Arts by Catholic University. He studied Arabic and Aramaic dialects in the University’s department of Semitic languages.
