Chancellor of the Exchequer Sir John Simon, acknowledging Germany’s anti-Semitic disorders had dampened the effects of the Munich peace, told an audience here tonight that wold opinion demands a haven for German refugees. He declared, however, “it is easy to exaggerate the amount of help which the Colonial Empire can give. In much of the Colonial Empire the climate conditions are such that Europeans cannot settle at all, and even in other parts there are natives whose rights to the land must be fully respected and protected.”
