Representative William M. Citron (Conn.) today called upon sportsmen of the United States to cancel participation in the Berlin Olympic games in an address on the floor of the House.
He charged that Germany has broken her pledge of equality of entry for her citizens. “Neither Jews, Catholics, or Masons have a fair opportunity to compete in that country,” he declared. “The Olympic Association of the United States should withdraw its relations with the Olympic Committee of Germany.”
Mr. Citron accused “the rulers of Germany” of “using the expected Olympics for their propaganda of hate and persecution. America’s youth should not be subjected to propaganda against democracy,” he asserted.
