The conference of Premiers of the countries of the British Commonwealth, which opened here today, will discuss various aspects of Middle Eastern defense, it was learned authoritatively by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Sources close to the conference indicated that is not considered necessary to establish a new defense organization for the Middle East. It was desirable, they said, that the defense of the Middle Eastern countries while not included directly in North Atlantic defense planning, should be fitted into the over-all Middle Eastern and Far Eastern defense scheme of the British Commonwealth. They also indicated that the United States has agreed to this conception.
