Senator Royal S. Copeland, in the tenth of a series of articles to be published in the Hearst newspapers tomorrow, declares that there is room for millions more Jews in Palestine if the British Government “carries out the terms of the mandate for facilitation of immigration.”
“Today the Jews of Palestine number about 30 per cent of the total population,” he says. “By their performance they have demonstrated that there is room in Palestine, including Transjordania, for millions more of their persecuted brethren.”
He declares that Jewish settlement is aiding the Arab population, citing population growths in centers where immigration is greatest. He quotes statistics to refute that Jewish settlement has caused Arab emigration or that Jews have ousted the Arabs from land.
In the ninth article, Senator Copeland praises Tel Aviv as “a living monument to individual initiative and the eternal pioneering spirit in man.”
The sight of Tel Aviv’s healthy-looking children was impressive, he wrote, adding that with but a handful of police, crime is almost unknown.
In the eighth of the series, Senator Copeland accused judges in Palestine of “coddling” the Arab rebels, “thereby encouraging murder, and palpably violating their oaths of office.”
He blamed “the prolongation of the terror” on the judiciary, which he further accused of “sabotaging the British military in Palestine, in spite of a state of warfare.”
