The Jewish colonies in the Yevpatoris and Jankoy regions of Crimea are in danger of having to forego their spring sowing if forage is not provided within the next few days because the horses which had been collectivized are under-nourished and unfit for field work while tractors are in poor condition owing to the collectivization mix-up. A similar situation exists in other regions where there are Jewish colonies. Only in the Odessa district are conditions good.
When the land commissariat was officially asked as to the prospects of relieving the situation in the Crimean colonies by supplying them with forage so as to make possible the Spring sowing the reply was that the question of forage is serious not only in Crimea but also in other regions and that while measures are being taken to remedy the condition it is impossible to predict definite results.
