Dr. Alice Salomon, Pioneer Social Worker in Germany, Dies in New York at 76

Dr. Alice Salomon, pioneer German sociologist, known as the “Jane Addams of Germany,” who vas expelled by the Nazis in 1937, has died here at the age of 76. Dr. Salomon, who came from a Jewish family which had resided in Germany for over 200 years, was a founder and director of the German School of Social Work, founder and president of the International Committee for Schools of Social Work and a vice-president for 13 years of the International Council for Women. She became an American citizen in 1944.
