Moses Gaster, well known Anglo-Jewish scholar who was born in Roumania, was received by King Ferdinand upon his arrival here.
An invitation extended to Dr. Gaster to attend the meetings of the Roumanian Academy was refused by him as a protest against the anti-Semitic policy of the Academy.
It was stated that since the Academy is in existence, no Jewish scholar has ever been elected to membership, although the leading Roumanian philologists are all Jews.
