Funeral services were held here yesterday for Dr. Jacob B. Baruch, scholar, physician and linguist, who died at the age of seventy-two, following a prolonged illness.
Dr. Baruch was a graduate of the Sorbonne, where he received his degree of Ph.D. He received his M.D. from the Michigan College of Medicine in 1903. Prior to receiving his medical degree, he was the principal of Detroit’s first Hebrew school.
Dr. Baruch wrote numerous monographs on Biblical and medical subjects. He was one of the organizers of the Maimonides Medical Society and was one of the first Zionists in Detroit.
