The foremost personalities in Jewish life, science, literature and public affairs will join in paying tribute to Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine and the World Zionist Organization, at a dinner Wednesday, June 10, at the Waldorf-Astoria, it was announced here today.
Many distinguished figures are sponsoring the dinner in honor of the great Jewish statesman and scientist, including Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Viscount Halifax, Wendell Willkie, Donald Nelson, Governor Herbert H. Lehman, Mayor LaGuardia, Thomas Mann, Professor Albert Einstein, Arturo Toscanini. Dr. Stephen S. Wise will preside. The speakers will include Jan Masaryk, Foreign Minister of the Czechoslovak Government-in-Exile; Dorothy Thompson, Maurice Wertheim, president of the American Jewish Committee; Dr. Abba Hillel Silver, national chairman of the United Palestine Appeal; Henry Monsky, president of the B’nai B’rith.
