Egypt has withdrawn the larger part of the 60 artillery pieces it had installed earlier in its limited forces zone in Sinai in violation of the disengagement agreement, Israeli sources reported today. They said the guns were removed during the past 24 hours, following an Israeli complaint to the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF) headquarters.

The Egyptian and Syrian fronts were reported quiet tonight as the Passover holiday began. But Israeli forces remained on the alert. Many soldiers who normally would have been on leave to spend the seder night with their families found themselves in front line positions keeping a watchful eye for possible terrorist attempts at infiltration.
