The local chief of police was compelled to resign his membership in the Nazi storm troops as the result of an unauthorized raid on the building occupied by the B’nai B’rith carried out by storm troops. During the raid, which occurred about two months ago, the building was heavily damaged and many Jewish religious books destroyed by the Nazis.
The building itself was confiscated and the local B’nai B’rith lodge dissolved. Last week the B’nai B’rith building was handed back to the Stettin Jewish community to be used as a Jewish school. The authorities made it clear that they no longer regarded the building as the property of the B’nai B’rith.
