The Jewish Community Council reported today that it had arranged to make kosher meals available for the first time to patients at a non-Jewish Montreal hospital.
Rabbi Isaac Hechtman, JCC executive director, said that the Jean Talon Hospital had agreed to provide one kosher meat meal daily to all Jewish patients asking for it. The meals will be kosher packaged frozen dinners similar to those available on a number of commercial airliners. He said the JCC Actions Committee was negotiating with other Montreal hospitals for similar arrangements.
