At least five Jews including Israel Sieff, honorary president of the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland, were included in the Queen’s New Years honors list announced here yesterday. Mr. Sieff, who is also chairman of the European executive of the World Jewish Congress, was made a Life Baron, Such a peerage lasts only for the life of the baron, and is not transmitted to the recipient’s heirs.
Other Jews on the list included Dr. Ludwig Guttmann of the London Orthopedic Center, a pioneer in rehabilitation medicine. Alderman S. Hamberger, Otto Frankel, an Australian scientist; and A. Hauser, all of whom received the title of Member of the British Empire.
