A serious flood, involving an unspecified number of casualties and carrying off many houses with their inhabitants, is reported from the Ukrainian town of Kremenchug, following the bursting of a dam on the Dnieper, the “Manchester Guardian” reports to-day. The flood is approaching the railway line, threatening communication between Moscow and Odessa.
Numbers of Ukrainian towns and villages, including Kiev, Cherkassy, Kremenchug, and many others, are suffering severely from the Dnioper Dam burst, it is added. The Ukrainian Government and public organisations are taking vigorous measures to cope with the floods.
