Four new settlements will soon be established in Judea and Samaria, it was announced by the ministerial settlement committee. The settlements are Ziff, Carmel and Yatir Bet on the southern slopes of the Hebron Mountains, and Reihan He, in northern Samaria.
These are four of the 10 settlements which Premier Menachem Begin recently referred to as the last 10 settlements the government would establish in Judea and Samaria.
Two of the settlements, Ziff and Carmel, would first function as military outposts — for all intents and purposes military camps. However, there were already plans to introduce small industry in these settlements, to provide jobs for the settlers. According to settlement sources, the government will soon decide on yet another six settlements.
