“The State of Israel is approaching its problems with the same dauntless courage and fortitude that have characterized the efforts of our own nation,” Major General Robert Pepper today told the Jewish War Veterans meeting here in its 56th annual encampment.
“Israel holds out new hope to millions of people throughout the world –the hope of living in justice and decency, of building a new life in freedom and trust,” Gen. Pepper, who is Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps barracks at Parris Island, S. C., declared. His talk was followed by a parade and patriotic rally of all branches of the armed services, veterans organizations and civic and fraternal groups.
