A 45-year-old local merchant was today arraigned before a local jury charged with libel and public condonation of murder growing out of an argument in which he shouted anti-Jewish insults.
The merchant, whose name was not made public, called a follow townsman a “Jewish lout” whom “Adolf forgot to gas.” The target of his insults, who was not a Jew, preferred charges against the merchant. Still unable to hold his tongue, the merchant, in court, threatened to run off to Egypt. As a result, he was denied bail and clapped into jail.
