Dr. Rolf Dahlgrun, the West German Finance Minister, indicated today there was no point in submitting of applications for compensation in connection with forthcoming legislation to complete the West German laws on compensation and restitution for victims of the Nazi era.
The principal effect of the projected legislation would be to erase a cutoff date which barred such compensation to victims of the Nazi era who were behind the Iron Curtain. Jewish claims organizations have been pressing the West German Government for some time to make these changes.
It was reported here that the bills probably would be submitted to the West German Parliament before its summer recess. The additional costs of the expanded legislation to West Germany has been estimated at 3,600,000,000 marks ($900,000,000.)
