Abba Eban, Israeli Foreign Minister, and David Dubinsky, former president of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers Union, were the principal speakers at a testimonial dinner here Tuesday evening, honoring Harry Uviller on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of his service as impartial chairman of the dress industry of New York. Yehoshua Levy, Histadrut treasurer, lauded the contributions of Mr. Uviller to the upbuilding of Israel.
Louis Stulberg, president of the ILGWU was toastmaster, and Charles Ballon, impartial chairman of the fur industry, was chairman of the dinner. More than 1, 000 business and labor leaders attended this event, which was co-sponsored by the Greater New York Dress Industry and the Greater New York Histadrut Council. Mr. Uviller is chairman of the Greater New York Histadrut Council, and is also treasurer of the Liberal Party. Proceeds of the dinner will go toward establishing a Kupat Cholim clinic in Haifa in honor of Mr. Uviller.
