Word has reached the Holy City that a campaign will be launched in Poland to organize a society of Friends of Hebrew University whose purpose will be to raise funds for the maintenance of the university.
Aron Mendel Schneerson, financial secretary of the University, has left for Warsaw in connection with the new organization.
The hebrew University committee in Warsaw has confined its activities hitherto to giving information to prospective students. At the present time the majority of students registered in the University are Polish.
Mr. Schneerson was named financial secretary of the university in 1929. He was previously general secretary of orphan work in Poland under the auspices of the Joint Jewish Distribution Committee. During the War he was government rabbi in Russian Ukraine.
