A joint celebration was held at the Hebrew University yesterday marking the opening of this semestre’s lecture courses and the dedication of the Wattenburg building to house the Einstein Institute of Mathematics.
Dr. Judah L. Magnes, Chancellor of the University, in his address welcomed the new lecturers, Professors Roth, Dizendruck and Fekete. One hundred and six students are registerd at the University and admission continues. Five Arab students worked in the chemical laboratories during the Summer. The School of Oriental Students is being enlarged and a Moslem lecturer will be added.
A scholarship in Arabica has been established in honor of Lord Plumer, retiring High Commissioner of Palestine, the Chancellor announced.
Among the other speakers were Norman Bentwich, Palestine Attorney General, M. M. Ussishkin and Dr. Fekete.
