The Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns that the regular Saturday advertisement appearing in the Herald Tribune announcing the week-end features of the Rodeph Sholom Congregation was not published in last Saturday’s issue of the Herald Tribune as usual.
The advertisement which announced an address by Rabbi Newman on the subject of “Is Walter Lippman a ‘Leading Jew'”? appeared in the New York Times. Mr. Lippman conducts a column in the Herald Tribune entitled “Day By Day.”
as that of the Nobel Prize Winner, Landsteiner, or that of Professor R. Cohen, one of the most recognized thinkers in America; for that of Franz Boaz, the greatest anthropologist in America.”
Dr. Coralnik asks why the large Yiddish speaking group—a group which has its own press and culture and life—is ignored. He asks why there is no mention of Dr. Chaim Zhitlowsky. “Certainly,” says Dr. Coralnik, “he has done more for American Jewry—and indirectly for America—than the publicist of the English newspaper.”
“What a small folk we must be if these are our heroes,” Dr. Coralnik concludes.
