Herschl Grynzpan, Polish Jewish youth, who has been imprisoned in France since November, 1938, when he shot and killed Ernst Von Rath, third secretary of the Nazi legation in Paris, has been tortured to death by the Gestapo in reprisal for the shooting of Pierre Laval according to a story appearing today in the London Chronicle.

The Chronicle states that Grynzpan had been constantly tortured by the Gestapo in an attempt to extort a confession from him, implicating French statesmen in the Von Rath assassination.

Last week, after the shooting of Leval, the Chronicle reports, two husky Gestapo agents entered the cell of Grynspan, who was white-haired although still only twenty years old, and inflicted excruciating tortures upon him until he died.
