HIAS has and enounced that it has doubled its commitment for the current year in assisting Indochinese refugees. Gaynor Jacobson, the organization’s executive vice president, stated today that HIAS is prepared to receive and help in the resettlement of 6000 Indochinese, many of them boat people, instead of its original commitment for 3000.
He said HIAS provides the same assistance and services to the Indochinese as it does to Jewish refugees, including reception at the airport, clearance through immigration and customs and sponsorship by a relative, a community or agency. Jewish community agencies assist with housing, employment, health and any other problems that may arise.
