The Appellate Court here has resumed consideration of the case of Gyula Simon, the judge who presided at the court martial which doomed Chana Szenes, Hungarian Jewish girl who was parachuted into Hungary on an Allied mission during the war.
A Peoples Court last year sentenced Simon to one year’s imprisonment, but the sentence was suspended under a general amnesty issued at the time. The mild sentence resulted in protests by Jewish and liberal groups.
