Eleven Israeli soldiers were killed in yesterday’s fighting in south Lebanon and 57 were wounded, the majority of whom sustained light injuries, it was announced today. According to an army spokesman, those killed were:
Lt. Yehoshua Ehrlich of Kibbutz Gilead; Lt. Yaacov Cahana of Kibbutz Sdot-Yam; Cpl. Ran Lorbert of Kibbutz Maoz Chaim; Cpl. Reuben Sarig (Rottenberg) of Kibbutz Souffa; Cpl. Israel Ariel of Petach Tikvah; Cpl. Shalom Be’eri of Haifa; Cpl. Shimon Balalo of Holon; Cpl. Marius Silberman of Herzliya; Sgt. Yaron Hakim of Tel Aviv; Pvt. Nissim Cohen of Rehovot; and Pvt. Reuben Salomon of Netanya. All were between 19 and 21 years old. Funeral services were held today.
