The Israel American Line, which operates a direct Israel flag service between Israel and east coast ports of the United States and Canada, has just acquired its fifth and largest cargo vessel, the SS Eilat, it was announced here today by the American-Israeli Shipping Company.
Formerly the SS Vergray, of British registry, the vessel was built in Germany and was transferred to British interests as reparations after World War II. The SS Eilat has a deadweight capacity of 12,800 tons.
