Eighty-dye complaints were withdrawn by Israel and Jordan at an informal meeting {today of the Mixed. Armistice Commission. Eighty-four more-are expected to be struck off at a formal meeting which will take place tomorrow.
In the Israel Parliament today a motion was introduced by the Herut deputies calling for sterner measures against Arab infiltrates. It was emphasized that 3, 527 murders, thefts and robberies took place in, Israel border areas since the establishment of the Jewish State.
Premier David Ben Gurion replying for the government said that it appreciates the serious situation in the borders regions caused by the increasing number of murders and robberies by Arab infiltrates. He assured Parliament that the authorities will within the frame of existing legislation, increase the penalties against those aiding and abetting ‘ infiltrees. He added, that the government would not hesitate to impose collective fines on localities hiding infiltrates.
Last year the Israel Government allowed 2,300 infiltrates to remain in Israel, not counting those who entered without the knowledge of the Israeli authorities. Mr. Ben Gurion asked the Parliament not to debate the question of the infiltrates “for security reasons. ” He added that such a debate will take place within the Foreign and Security Affairs Committee of Parliament.
