A spokesman for the Israel Government said that the government will abstain from making any comment on Sweden’s charge that the Israel authorities have been negligent in investigating the assassination of Count Folke Bernadotte, United Nations mediator for Palestine.
Such comment, the spokesman stated, will be forthcoming only after the Israel Government receives a full report of Sweden’s charges. (A report from Stockholm said that Swedish State Prosecutor Maths Heuman, in charging Israel with laxity in investigating the murder of Bernadotte, declared that “doubt must exist as to whether the Israel authorities really tried to bring the inquiry to a positive result.”)
An official Swedish representative today arrived by air from Stockholm to open trade talks with Israel Government officials and private firms here.
